Watch Out… Google is slapping again!
Many review sites were slapped with a Quality Score of 1 meaning their PPC ads are basically finished.
It seems Google has added some software to slap pages with affiliate links.
Cloaked and php redirected sites have been immune thus far.
It has happen during the last few days.
Try to focus more on list building at the ad level rather than linking to affiliate stuff.
How to use link operator search in the big 3 engines.
Today I want to talk about the link operator. Specifically what it is and how to use it.
Let’s get to the easy part, what is it:
The link operator is what you enter into a search engine to see how many links they claim your site has.
There are 2 ways to enter the command.
link:domain.com
or
link:www.domain.com
Generally, you want to use the syntax that you have been using to build links to your site. In other words, if you have been building links using a www in your URL, then use a www when using the link operator. If you have built your link without a www in the URL, then use the syntax without the www.
So now we know what the link operator is and how to enter it into the search engines, but what data does it actually show and how reliable is that data?
Let’s look at results for this link operator search in the big 3 engines.
link:cnn.com
The number of links shown in Bing = 0
The number of links shown in Google = 74,800
The number of links shown in Yahoo = 529,290
So we have a pretty huge variety there don’t we?
So who is right?
The simple answer is none of them.
Bing disabled the link operator command a year or so ago to cut down on automated queries.
Google has never applied much in the way of resources to displaying link data. While some have in the past argued that Google only displays links that have a page rank of 4 or higher, that is absolutely 100% not true.
You can skim through the links returned for cnn.com and find links of every page rank including 0 displayed in the results. Of the big 3, Yahoo is going to most closely reflect accurate numbers but even then, are never going to be 100% accurate.
So why does Google only display a small percentage of links?
There are many opinions and here’s mine.
There is no monetization in allocating resources to showing more. Search through the results. No Adsense. How are they going to make money off of your search? The bottom line is they don’t.
Even though Google does not display more than 1000 results, the computation must still be made if they wanted to give you the larger numbers, I believe they just cut the number off at some point.
This is not to suggest that they don’t use accurate data internally. Quite the contrary, I would expect their internal data to likely be the most accurate of the big 3.
Yahoo also does not display more than 1000 results, but they are giving you a number that probably very close to their internal numbers they use in their ranking algo.
Why does Yahoo give more results? Perhaps to position themselves as offering something to webmasters that Google does not offer.
The bottom line is, don’t rely on Google for giving you anything close to accurate link numbers to your site. Yahoo will much better serve you. But keep in mind that the numbers given by any search engine will never match up with what you know to be accurate link numbers. Don’t take this as meaning they don’t know your links are there. If the site on which you place your link is indexed in any of the big 3, they know that your link is there.
So use the link operator as a guide. Don’t obsess over numbers as those numbers never earned anyone a penny. In the end it doesn’t matter what numbers they give you, it’s traffic and earnings that really matter, not how many links a search engine is publicly stating you have.
Three important goals setting keys to succeed online
There is a lot of money to be made online. If you’re looking to make a part time income or a full time income then the internet offers a great opportunity for you. However, in order to succeed online you need to set goals. Here are 3 important keys for setting goals to succeed online.
Set Short Term and Long Term Goals
When setting goals to succeed online you need to set both short term and long term goals. You need goals that you are trying to reach in the immediate future and you need goals that you’re trying to reach far in the distance. This should include an ultimate goal of where and when you will consider yourself successful.
All your goals should link to one another. Your short term goals should lead-up to your long term goals. In other words, with each short term goal you complete, you should be one step closer to reaching a long term goal.
Make the Goals Realistic
Another important key to setting goals to succeed online is to make the goals realistic. This is usually the downfall of goals. People are too optimistic about what they can accomplish. Then when they don’t accomplish a goal, they get behind, they become discouraged, and eventually they fall so far behind that they stop striving to reach their goals. This means that they won’t be successful until they set more realistic goals that they can actually achieve.
Make sure you set goals that are attainable. That way you will feel good about yourself and you stay motivated. Also you’ll be able to stick with your plan and you’ll always be moving forward toward your ultimate goal.
Adjust The Goals as You Go
The final key to setting goals to succeed online is to adjust your goals as you go. You want to take your time when you set your goals. You want to set solid goals. However, no matter how much you plan, you’ll also have room for improvement. So, make sure you change your goals if and when you need to so that you are able to succeed.
3 keys for setting goals to succeed online are to set short term and long term goals, make the goals realistic, and to adjust the goals as you go. If you do these 3 things then you will have solid goals that will lead to your success.
SEO, Is it hard to learn….Some tips for you
It’s obvious that the more visitors you get to your site the better your business will do. In order to get as many visitors as possible you want your site to rank well with search engines. Here are 6 tips to improve your search engine ranking.
Tip #1: Create a lot of Links
There are three types of links. They are incoming links, outgoing links, and internal links. You want to create as many incoming and internal links as possible. In other words, you want links from outside your site to be pointing to your site. You also want links on one page of your site pointing to another page on your site. The more incoming links (also known as backlinks) and internal links you have, the better your site will rank with the search engines. Backlinks are particularly helpful to search engine ranking.
Tip #2: Keyword Density
On all the content you put on the Internet you want your keyword content to be between 1% and 2%. Keywords are words that are searched for a lot that you want to target so that your site will show up when those words are searched for. A keyword density of 1% means the keywords would show up 1 time for every 100 words.
Tip #3: Name Your Pages with Keywords
To improve your search engine ranking you should also name each page on your site using a keyword or keyword phrase. This will automatically help that particular page rank better with the search engines.
Tip #4: Use Longer Versions of Keywords
Many search engines look at the roots of words and count them when a search is performed. For example, when diet is searched for, the word dieting will also be counted. However, when dieting is searched for, diet will not show up. Therefore, you should always target longer keywords and not just the root of the word.
Tip #5: Use Less Popular Keywords in the Body of Web Pages
Obviously you want to target popular keywords. However, you should also sprinkle less popular keywords throughout the body of your pages. These words have less competition and you can rank well for them while you’re actually targeting more popular keywords.
Tip #6: Stay Away From Link Farms
The final tip to improve your search engine ranking is to stay away from link farms. Don’t pay to have thousands of incoming links created for you. The search engines will see this as link spamming and they’ll stop ranking your site altogether. There you have the 6 tips to improve your search engine ranking. When you follow these tips you will get a higher ranking for your site. This will bring more traffic to your site and will lead to more money for you.
